Remember that old KH song "Let's watch how we walk and watch how we talk"? You have to always be aware that you're being watched and judged.

Miranda for the fader
by changeling inthere 's been a lot said on this board lately about revealing our feelings and doubts to friends, family, and that "reasonable elder".
well, i just wanted to share something with you guys.. a while back, i had what i thought was an innocent conversation with someone very near and dear to me.
all was calm and rational, questions were asked in a spirit of wanting to understand.

This is exactly one of my explanations I would give the Elders when I wanted to move out of my parent's house, go to college, travel and anything else they decided to bother me about. With the time they wasted trying to figure out an answer, I had already walked away.

Really, What's So Wrong With The Jehovah's Witness Religion To You?

The religion of Jehovah's Witnesses will own you and make you afraid to leave. They have something to say about everything. There are few subjects they don't have a rule for. If there isn't a rule, there's a strong opinion. You have to do it their way, or you will be thrown out. Forgiveness is not an option unless you do it on their terms. It may not look like a cult, but if you're lucky to get out, you will look back and see how controlled you were.

The Day Has Arrived
by concerned x intwo months ago i stepped down as an elder in the cong, it was a tremdous relief although a shock to the cong.
two and a half days ago i sent in a letter of explaination concerning why i wanted to step down and why i will be absent from the kh.
it only took two and a half days for the accusation of apostasy to be made against me.

Welcome. It's good that you have support from your children. In time, your wife may see through the lies from the GB and leave also. I look forward to reading your story.

Aside from the usual householder threats and foul language, there are a few that stand out:
Standing at the front door, hearing noise inside and seeing an angry dog run out of the back door and chase us half-way down the street.
Getting cursed out by a mean elderly lady, then she threw a shovel at me as I was walking down the driveway away from her house.
While working by myself (there was an uneven car group), I went inside a house with two very nice, very interested ladies. After I got in, they pummeled me with questions about the Bible and then tryed to exorcise the demons out of me. They blocked my way out of the door. I got nasty with them and told them they had "problems", then I pushed through both of them and got out of the door.

Thank you for this thread. I have some questions:
Do you really have to decide if there is a Trinity? I've read so many pros and cons. What if there are too many theories and it's too confusing?
Sometimes, I want to believe there is a Trinity because I was under the spell of the GB telling us there wasn't, but they are liars. So I always question my own reasoning skills.
I still can't find a church and I would like to find some place to worship. It seems you need to have some type of stant with the Trinity issue. Or maybe not? Even the non-denominational church I went to for 6 months, believed in the Trinity. But what if I don't believe, where would I go?
What are your opinions?

I appreciate hearing your
comments, experiences, stories. It gives me a better perspective. There were times when I felt bad for some of the brothers in the congregation. Now that I've gotten older, gotten out, and look back, I understand how some of the elders looked unhappy all the time. I used to think it was because they had so much responsibility and they had tough decisions to make. I would hear gossip that the elders weren't getting along. But I realize now that some of them were probably trapped just like I was. You could tell which elders felt bad about JC decisions, and which ones were on a power trip.Sorry about the strikethroughs. I still have those dub catch-phrases in my vocabulary.
